How to Open a .FIG File
A .FIG file is a FIG File Format. Opening a .FIG file requires software capable of decoding the FIG File Format format. If your operating system lacks a registered viewer or native codec, the file cannot be previewed without additional tools.
Windows 11 & 10 Instructions
- Double-Click in Windows File Explorer: Locate your .FIG file and double-click. Windows 11/10 will attempt to open it with Windows Photos / File Viewer.
- Use "Open With" Menu: Right-click the .FIG file → select 'Open with' → click 'Choose another app'. Select your preferred graphics editor or viewer.
- Set as Default Application: Check the box 'Always use this app to open .FIG files' to create a permanent system file association.
macOS Instructions
- Instant Quick Look (Spacebar): Select the .FIG file in Finder and tap the Spacebar on your keyboard for an instant floating preview.
- Open with Apple Native App: Double-click the file to launch in Apple Preview / Quick Look.
- Set Permanent macOS Association: Select the file in Finder → press Cmd + I (Get Info) → expand 'Open with:' → choose your preferred app → click 'Change All...'.
